The glass balustrade you are referring to, exists on the first row of levels 2, 3, 4 and 5 of seating throughout the stadium as a safety standard. Traditionally at other stadiums, concrete balustrading is utilised with metal rail tubing on top running horizontally, which can often create some form of viewing obstruction for some people in certain seats.

 

At Optus Stadium, in line with the fans first approach, to negate this issue, glass balustrading was selected as it provides a more continuous view of the field of play – the steel reinforcement is required to support the glass panels. Seating directly behind the glass balustrade is not classified as restricted view for any events held at Optus Stadium. Please be advised that the pricing of all categories of tickets for AFL events are set by the home club, and not the venue. As Fremantle Dockers members, if you haven't already, I would encourage you to contact their membership team. 

The cleaning of the glass balustrading throughout the stadium is included on our cleaning maintenance schedule, however it isn't possible to clean every section on a weekly basis. I'm sorry that the glass at your seats was not in a clean state. Please be advised that if you experience anu issues during an event that the recommended course of action is to speak with a member of staff. In this instance we could have either arranged for cleaners to attend or relocated you to alternative seats.
